First, the most underwhelming part: iDisk is back... sort of. Still only 5GB for free, just like iCloud now. But you can now actually use the space as you would most of the other on-line storage offerings; set it up the way you want: folders, files, just like real disk space. Déja vu, all over again? iDisk first appeared about 14 years ago... Already have 6.75GB free at Dropbox... 100GB would be 9.99/mo, Apple would be half that! DB does offer a 17% discount if paid yearly, not sure about Apple...

One improvement in the Mac OS and the iOS looks to be the ability to use Airdrop in both. I must say, I've not use it more than once or twice but its use along with the easier connection to iCloud space means Mac to Mac users now have a better, cleaner way to send very large attachments. Instead of linking to a Dropbox stored multi-GB file with a link, Mac users can seamlessly use iCloud to accept and deliver that file. No need to deal with most ISPs attachment size limits! If both sender and recipient are using Mail (and iCloud), the process is automagical, the content will simply 'stream' onto their screen! Non-Mail users will see the usual url/link and will have to download the file manually. thumbup.gif Of course, you'll have to wait on Yosemite and iOS 8... wink.gif

I've read several online articles about the great park, and so far I'm unimpressed—but then I usually am. tongue.gif

The flat windows are like a step back to OS7 and earlier, at least to me. I like the softness of the current design. Oh wait, I'm still using 10.8. laugh.gif

The iDisk vs Dropbox: Dropbox will work on my droid phone, a droid tablet, the iPad, etc. Will iDisk work across ALL platforms?

Don't know, don't much care. tongue.gif But I think all one really needs is an Apple ID which anyone can get. I doubt that any of  the automagic functions would work, of course, no more than they will for non-Yosemite/iOS 8 apps.

As with every update, there's always more complaining than applause. That's simply how most of us are. We can become satisfied with changes faster than Apple can make them! laugh.gif But before we do, we can still complain. I just read some posts from font 'designers' who think moving to a Helvetica variety is "tin-eared". I suppose mixing metaphors is part of their training? dntknw.gif laughhard.gif

Actually, there are some pretty nice features coming, IMHO.

What about SMS support?
This is pretty cool: If you have an iPhone and upgrade to iOS 8, you’ll be able to push SMS messages—those “green bubble” messages from buddies who don’t use an iPhone to text—to your Mac or other iOS devices, so that you can write and reply to them on any device you choose. You’ll even be able to initiate SMS messages on the Mac.

Not sure about some of the changes to Safari (no Favourites bar visible unless you click in the smart search bar...not so keen on that, but will have to see how it actually works).

What is a "Favourites bar"? dntknw.gif I have either too few or way too many for something like that! rolleyes.gif OTOH, I might use the much smaller thumbnail views of currently open sites, assuming the size is adjustable. I never cared for "Cover View". Text in a tab can be rather useless once I get more than 10 sites open! inspect.gif I like the way those are handled in iOS, even on the phone.
