Screen mirroring issues
« on: June 12, 2014, 09:57:52 PM »
Greetings All!

I am having issues with my mac book pro mid 2009 when I upgraded to the 10.9.3 OS.  Issue symptoms are/were slow key stroking and no screen mirroring available to connect to any external TV projector screen at all.

The following steps were recommended by Mac:
1- Back up all files to an external disk, using the time machine feature, in order to prepare for an erasure of the 500 GB HD on the machine
2- Reload the 10.6.3 OS from the disk to try help establish connection to an external display source

Issues with the software included the machine repeatedly asking for a PW in order to log in
Recommended that I reset/create a new PW from the Utilities tab to eliminate the PW issue from the start up 10.6.3 disk

To no avail, many days went by in playing with this recommendation and the system kept asking for a PW

Went to a local store where they were also having issues in getting into the machine to resolve the PW issue.  The tech eventually connected to the company's network via ethernet connection and had to reset the entire system.  After this was successfully completed we did make a connection to a display in the store.  When I got home a connection was made to both screens and then after an OS upgrade was made the screen mirroring feature was lost again.

Any suggestions?   Thinking.gif

Thank you most kindly.

From what I can tell, this is an ongoing problem: https://discussions.apple.com/message/25795546#25795546

Various solutions - nothing definitive, but worth a look. You may just have to downgrade to 10.9.2 (did it work with it? Or did you make a bigger leap to 10.9.3?)

Thanks for your reply! toothgrin.gif

It was determined that the update which caused the issue was definitely 10.9.3.  And I don't recall going to 10.9.2.  All of the sudden 10.9.3 showed up.

What other means are available to connect a screen/tv/projector to this machine?
