Hey, you get out of my iCloud!
« on: September 01, 2014, 05:43:19 PM »
I promise that I have no photos of a personal or any nature in any iCloud account but I think, like leaving your garage door open all night, that posting pictures in any cloud account and expecting them to be "secret" in some regard is really stupid:

Just saw this story on ABC News as well!

I pretty much agree that anything stored anywhere is discoverable by a determined crook/hacker. Thinking.gif But, all you have to do is put the "legal" disclaimer in the EXIF data saying the image/data/text "is to be used only by the intended recipient and if you are not s/he you are viewing illegally". I still get emails from a retired attorney with his stupid clause at the end of every email. Was this "if-you're-not-who-I-thought-you-were-you-must-delete-this-message" disclaimer ever legally validated... for an email?! rolleyes.gif

Reading some of the comments reminded me that "Security" questions need not have truthful answers. In other words, no matter what the question is, simply ask your password manager app to generate another 20+ character pw and paste it into the text box. Of course, you should probably create a new login for the site naming it for the question you'll be applying the new "pw"! There's no law that says you have to actually use your Mother's maiden name in a "security" question/answer. wallbash.gif

BTW, where were the "nude photographs"? I didn't see any... probably for the best! blush-anim-cl.gif

I used to tell my students that they should never put in writing or draw anything that they wouldn't want the whole world to see. The media may be different but the advice remains the same.  yes.gif

Apple denies that it was a problem at their end.

I think we know exactly what the "problem" is! It is the human in front of the camera. Generoulsy assuming these were not 'selfies'! rolleyes.gif I think this, once again, proves that "celebrities" are no smarter than the average idiot person. wallbash.gif

Actually I think celebrities may be dumber than the general public. It boils down to choosing security questions that don't have answers that could be easily discovered online. The more the info about you that is out there, the more obscure you have to make your security questions. And the celebs are so desirous of attention that they aren't all that careful about giving up personal information. It would be a lot harder to "crack" an account of an everyday person, unless they use their mother's maiden name or some such data that is public record.

But it all goes back to whether you want the world to know your private life. If not, don't put it online, anywhere. Period.

Thinking.gif   I think the problem is the cloud itself!!!
