Edited to add: problem has solved itself. I don't know how or why, it just has.My iMac
10.9.4
Build 13E28
TextEdit
Version 1.9 (310)
It all started when TextEdit bombed and required a forced quit. TE seemed okay until I went to save a doc. Couldn’t save it in a folder other than loose in the “documents” folder. Thinking perhaps my subfolder was corrupt, I tried making a new folder, no go. I was able to move the newly saved doc to it’s own folder by dragging it, but couldn’t
save it there. I restarted my iMac but the problem still existed. I thought perhaps the problem was Default Folder X as that was newly installed. I uninstalled DFX, and restarted my iMac again. Problem still alive and well, so I turned to Google.
I found several posts/threads about this issue. I tried every solution I found (and I can’t begin to tell you what they all were, sorry). I did finally trash prefs and folders from the library, and that finally fixed the save issue.
However, I now have a new problem: I reset my personal default text preferences, but they don’t stick. I use the font color option quite a bit and that always opens to the default palette no matter what palette I’d previously used. It used to always open to the last used palette.
I’ve tried trashing all those library prefs, and restarting my iMac, but nothing works. I’m totally stumped and I’m becoming frustrated. It's a pain to adjust the font on every new doc I create. Worse, if I change it from "rtf" to "text", it changes to the Mac default font, not my choice, and when I revert it back to "rtf", I'm back to the Apple chosen font.
I use TE a great deal and would like it to play nice again.
I tried Googling for a solution, but apparently I don't have the right term in my search box. Help! Please.
