double-sided printing when the printer doesn't support it
« on: September 30, 2014, 03:16:38 PM »
My Epson Stylus Photo R2880 does not have native ability to print double-sided but there is an easy workaround. (Other brands may have a slightly different procedure, depending on how the paper is loaded.)

1. Print only the even-numbered pages, in reverse order.
2. Remove the prints, reverse the stack left to right (not top to bottom) and put them back in the loading tray.
3. Print the odd-numbered pages, in reverse order.

When you remove the stack from the exit tray, everything will be in correct order and the pages properly numbered. This works perfectly if there is an even number of pages in the document. If there is an odd number of pages, print the last page separately and add it to the back of the stack.

Or print in the normal order. Then, take the last page out of the input tray. Or just don't put it in at all. This kind of exercise usually takes a few trial and error attempts. The trick is to write it down where you can find it next time! laughhard.gif Sometimes I think some printer "designers" are hired for their devious ways... rolleyes.gif

I own at least one printer that tells you to print the envelope upside down if you follow the diagram. dry.gif
