WIth my PowerBook 1400cs, OS 8.6, 48 MB RAM, Ramdoubler installed, I have the following problem with either by CD-ROM drive (MGI Model MCTR24EX) or with ZIP 100 drive attached with SSCI port.
When I turn on CD-R Drive or the ZIP Drive and then boot up the PowerBook, neither I am unable to mount CDs in the the CD-R Drive nor ZIP disks in the ZIP Drive.
The only work around is to boot from a bootable CD disk in the drive (or with a bootable Zip disk in the ZIP drive). Then I can restart the PowerBook as the startup drive and mount CDs in the CD-R drive or ZIP disks in the ZIP drive. I always have to go through the process of booting the CR-Drive (or the ZIP drive) and rebooting the Powerbook before I can use the CR Drive orZip drive.
I've reinstalled the Apple CD/DVD Driver without any effect on behavior of CD drive of Zip drive.
Both the CD Drive and the Zip drive work normally with by PowerMac 7200.
Any suggestions as to problem with PowerBook 1400?
