Well, gregg, if you can afford an Epson printer, that's where I got my Photoshop LE 4.0, for free.  It still suits my needs best, and can do just about anything.  The neat thing is, you'll discover all kinds of things to do to photos that you "never thought you'd use" but will!  It is virtually addicting.

I have an Epson 740. I'll have to pull out the CD and see what's on it. Thanks for the tip.

Paddy, I'm going to give your suggestion a try. I hope the download works better than that Caffeine thing did.

Had the solution right under my nose and didn't know it! My Epson CD has Polaroid PhotoMAX Pro on it. I also downloaded the Goldberg software. I'll see which one is more intuitive. Thanks to everyone!

Gregg,

Doesn't sound like you really care (nor do I!), but ColorIt! is being re-built for X, at least it was when I talked to somebody at MicroFrontier several months ago. I don't use it as much as I used to, for the same price, it's hard to beat Elements 2! But it is still a quite capable pixel (non-vector) graphics editor 'for the rest of us!' And it will open and display an image before Elements is even loaded.

Some one mentioned saving as a jpeg, opening in AW, saving as jpeg again. Just remember that a jpeg will lose some pixels/info with every save. No matter what quality you use. Probably better to save an original in another format (tiff, psd, etc.) make changes in that format, then save a copy as a jpeg to reduce the file size.

I gave Goldberg and PhotoMAX Pro the quick test: intuitive in 15 seconds or not...
PhotoMAX won.

Ok, I didn't give Goldberg a fair shake the first time. Tried it first, didn't know what to do. Figured out what to do in PhotoMAA, then when I used the same strategy with Goldberg, it's just as intuitive. Neither one takes up much space. I'll keep both loaded for now. Didn't want to give Goldberg a bad rap with my previous post.

I forget where I downloaded this, but Resize! is a little freeware app that will re-size (duh) a whole folder of files. It has a number of parameters, so even if the files are of different sizes, you can "unify" them.

The downside is that it's for JPEGS only. BUT that's fine if you have a batch of digital camera shots you want to size up (or down). Oh, it's FAST too. It works fine in nine, not sure if it does X though.

zodraz and Gregg notworthy.gif  Thank YOU!!  Thank you, thank you!  You have saved me endless hours, on just one of my pages. notworthy.gif

I had 20 shots of one house, fired up ResizeIt and made the thumbnails for the page, then made the 430s!  So much easier than the way I was doing it! clap.gif  clap.gif

Jennie, kudos to you for finding a three month old thread that addressed your need. I usually strike out with Search and end up posting a new question. In fact, I usually go directly to step two.  blush-anim-cl.gif
