Are you a short sleeper?
« on: July 09, 2015, 12:17:33 PM »
I find it hard to sleep more than 7 hours a night but as I'm tired all of the time I'm sure that's not enough and this research doesn't apply to me; but apparently some people have DNA that allows them to get away
with about half the amount of sleep most of us need:

QUOTE
What would you do if you had 60 days of extra free time a year? Ask Abby Ross, a retired psychologist from Miami, Florida, a “short-sleeper”. She needs only four hours sleep a night, so has a lot of spare time to fill while the rest of the world is in the land of nod.

“It’s wonderful to have so many hours in my day – I feel like I can live two lives,” she says.

Short-sleepers like Ross never feel lethargic, nor do they ever sleep in. They wake early – normally around four or five o’clock – raring to get on with their day. Margaret Thatcher may have been one – she famously said she needed just four hours a night, whereas Mariah Carey claims she needs 15.

How are the rest of you doing on sleep?

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system
CAUTION! Childhood vaccinations cause adults!

I sleep right well. I usually get a solid 7 hours and wake up refreshed. Since last November, I sometimes deal with disturbing dreams that keep me from a good nights rest, but I understand why I have them, and I'm able to deal with them.

I agree with xABD about sleep apnea, but I'd go one step further and suggest you talk to your doctor about your sleep habits and being tired.

Just remember, we don't even play a Doctor on radio, much less TV! tongue.gif

I've already been diagnosed with Apnea and use a machine every night and this seems to get better when I've lost weight (down 45 pounds since December); it's the getting up too early (45 minutes before the alarm clock goes off) that is maddening!  wallbash.gif I'm going to be 60 next month and you'd think I'd have a handle on this stuff by now!

Glad to hear you are taking medical things seriously! cheer.gif I was afraid I might have been acting too hastily or personally by suggesting Apnea. blush-anim-cl.gif

I also awaken earlier than I "want", but I've almost always had a job that required me to be 'up-and-at-em' at practically any hour! wink.gif It's just possible you and I have a few of those 'minimal sleep needs' genes! Of course, it might be good to get a checkup, anyway, specifically asking about the "tired all the time" symptoms. It may be something as simple as an adjustment to the sleep box. It could be some chemical (vitamin/hormone/etc.) shortage. I urge you to visit your favorite doctor, especially while you have good insurance coverage. You have a pretty long commute every day! We don't want you make any 'shortcuts'! Perhaps there is still a camping area at Lake Shawnee? You could buy an RV and stay there Mon-Thr... laughhard.gif

I love sleep.  It is wonderful.

Since my back stuff, I have found it very difficult until this......

It is wonderful and it works!

I lie on it for 30 minutes plus just before I go to sleep and then I sleep deeply, without any pain and wake happy and refreshed!

This is the first time in years that I have achieved a good whole night's sleep.
