Wish more devs would clarify and encourage folks to be more careful.
Noticed a in the changes info when I started up Mail today and found that a new version of SpamSieve was available. Intrigued, I found a small page indicating how many developers are "harassed" by usually unscrupulous sites. The page provides a list of sites offering free downloads of the app. None are authorized. Many "offer" adware with your download, not to mention asking for info they don't need and that is probably the source of their income!
Many of us once used C|net and even that source has misleading text on their page.
I don't know of any millionaire devs, even the successful ones! Please support these folks by using the Mac App Store, but even better, download from their sites, if they still provide that source. While there are still other reputable sites around, why take chances?
I think getting adware from downloading from non-authorised sites is no different than theft. If you can't afford to pay for the software you use, I seriously think you should consider another past time/hobby. If you are actually running a business on stolen software, I hope you have a second source of income to take care of things while serving your time and paying your lawyers.

Should I download SpamSieve from this free site?>
