Certainly second the idea to NOT be the first one on your block to upgrade! wink.gif Never understood the desire to "bleed", even on the edges! laughhard.gif You may even make up the delayed install time by waiting until Apple's servers get back on-line from the initial traffic clogging! yes.gif OTOH, if you live in China, there are probably "alternative" download sites... eek2.gif

I make it a practice to not upgrade until there are at least two updates. 10.11.1 is already available to developers in its second beta incarnation, and the first came out before El Capitán was even released. I'll wait for 10.11.2 before taking the plunge.

In the meantime, I want to see if MS Office 2008 and Photoshop CS5 are compatible with EC. Of course, I'd like Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro and i1Profiler to be compatible as well. Others? Probably...

At any rate, patience is a virtue, except for Jim's avatar, of course.  whistling.gif

I was considering doing it on a 10.8.5 partition on the Macpro but the Store couldn't load that; I rebooted onto the 10.10 partition of the same machine
and 40 minutes later I have it.  Everything seems to work okay but I did go in and Disable SIP so I could use system level utilities (I like to tinker):

I was, unfortunately, an "Early Adopter" of El Capitan. Fortunately, nearly everything works.

TechTool Pro 8 does not work, but I am sure they will fix it soon. I'm keeping Yosemite on a bootable external drive so I can use TTP when necessary.

And what happened to "Secure Empty Trash?" I was in the habit of always using it to empty my trash.

Printing may be a little slower, though I cannot document that.

Oh,well. Looking forward to the next iteration.

I don't have EC yet, but the lack of "Secure Empty" may be related to the new System Integrity Protection functions.

Here's another familiar function that is no longer available by default: Permissions Repair. However, it can be easily enabled by typing just two words in Terminal. Details at this MacIssue blog: <MacIssues, October 2, 2015 by Topher Kessler>

Permissions Repair is not an issue for me.

I do a daily incremental backup with SuperDuper. It always repairs permissions before cloning.
