Made the switch to EC. 1 minor issue.

Did the move to El Capitan a couple of days ago. Seems pretty painless thus far. One glitch. The Seagate external drive that I was using for Time Machine is no longer recognized. I've plugged/unplugged, restarted, but EC does not acknowledge that drive. The light on the Seagate comes on when plugged into the Mini's USB port and the drive is spinning. But that's the extent.
The Toshiba drive being used for Super Duper pops up and all is normal. Is there something I can do to recover the Seagate? It doesn't show up as an option under "select disk" in the TM prefs. Did the Seagate just coincidentally expire at the same time the OS update was happening?

Considering Seagate's reputation for less-than-perfect quality control, it's possible that it failed coincidentally. FWIW, my two external Hitachis are fine in EC.

Have you tried mounting it with Disk Utility?

Hadn't thought of DU. DU sees the drive. Ran first aid and it says that it's OK. The "mount" icon is grayed out. So I erased it, reformatted and now it appears back to normal. Named it Time Machine and was able to select it as a backup drive in TM.
Thanks for the DU advice!

Glad to help!

For several days, one of my external backup drives would not UNmount so I could use TechTool Pro on it. Now it does. I don't know why.
