About half the e-mails I send are never received. It seems to a random problem and I cannot see any pattern as to which ones will or will not fail. I get no warning message - just a phone call that message did not arrive.
My e-mail client is Eudora and my ISP is SBC Pac Bell. I am using two Spam filters: Spamfire which checks e-mail before I download it and Spamnix which is internal to Eudora and catches any Spam that Spamfire misses.
Is it possible that either Spam filter could be the source of the problem. I do receive all my e-mails.
Sometimes when I attemt to send an e-mail I get an error message that says I need to authenticate. So I first check mail than I can send.
I have checked with several people whom I deall with regularly and they checked internally that their Spam filters are not active against my address. They are not. One customer who is inside a massive defense contractor has the biggest problem. They have their own servers but never get my messages. On the other hand, this customer receives my messages at his home with no problem.
This is driving me crazy and I wanted TS to have a crack at it before I start calling my ISP and Eudora. that could take an entire day!
Finally, I have TraceRoute. Should I use it to find out where my messages are going. Can I use a receipients e-mail address instead of his IP address? Also, how do I use it to trace a specific message?
Thnks for any help.
