<grin>

The comments were fun...and in some spots, somewhat educational, even. (No, not the ones suggesting that he get a Mac - he IS a Mac guy, primarily - some people can't read, it seems!)

Still think the poor guy could save himself a whole lot of bother by buying an external drive and Norton's Ghost, if this sort of thing actually happens to him every 9 months!!! wacko.gif

When I read stuff like this, it reminds me of how thankful I am that I am able to do 99% of my work on my Macs and my PeeCees are just for fun/checking web design. I did manage to kill an installation of XP recently (a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing...editing registry files is not for amateurs!) - but not before I'd cloned the drive with Ghost. I was back up and running in a few minutes.

*LOL** Have "never ever ever!" tried XP... don't plan to in the next three centuries or so... wink.gif

TweakUI... indispensible! I have the version that works with Win98se... even more indispensible... Drive Image!!

Windows hits it's prescribed half life period or whatever other myriad things can mess it up... I use the program, which I always make sure to take the oh... 15 min. or so to keep an up to date image, to restore the hosed Windows with a good one... up and running in about 30 min.

The registry... ceased to frighten me after about the first 10 days with my PC... it was either "dive in, the water's fine" and mess with it or suffer! wink.gif
