Quickbooks for Mac
« on: July 28, 2003, 03:24:14 PM »
an accountant has advised my Reason For Living to use QuickBooks for a new business venture.
We've never employed any type of computer based financial program.
A quick reading online suggests that we will have trouble exhanging QuickBooks data with the Windows-based accountant.

Has anybody tried Quickbooks? I also note that a "Lite" edition is currently being bundled with new Mac machines. Our business needs won't be too elaborate, so would that version be suitable? If so, is it available as a standalone program?

Quickbooks for Mac

Hi Tom - I used Quickbooks a couple of years ago as the treasurer of our PTO. Good program - easy to use and learn, especially if you've ever used Quicken. When the following year's treasurer took over, she did so on a PC, and of course, the PC version at that time was several versions ahead, as Intuit had temporarily given up on supporting Macs. She did have trouble importing the data, but I also wasn't able to help her (off to Canada, as usual) and she wasn't very knowledgeable, so who knows what the problem really was. Now, the Quickbooks for Mac SHOULD be completely compatible with the PC version, but I couldn't swear to it, as I haven't tried that version yet.
