iPhone 7
« on: September 20, 2016, 09:30:19 AM »
My old iPhone is a bit over 3 years old, but it works just fine.I am thinking of buying a 7, and wondered if anyone here has recently gotten one, and how do you like it.I was also looking at the newer 6SE to upgrade to instead.Probably will go to my ATT store today and look at the price comparison. Also hoping my husband wants my old one, but he isn't very techie and really doesnt want it. And all our kids and grandkids have their new phones, so there is no need inside our family.I forgot to post this picture of some flowers in our yard, shows how well the iPhone camera works, and do I really need a new iPhone?????

Can't answer as to your "needs". I'm of the old-school, 'if-it-ain't-broke-why-change-it' group. I'm also a cheapskate! Besides, we just bought our 6's a little over a year ago! laughhard.gif Don't forget, there are also ways to sell your phones and get a few bucks for coffee! wink.gif

I really like the option on the 7 of the water resistant possibility.
For my old one, I have to wear a plastic bag like thing around my neck with a tether. The phone is safe in there, but the plastic makes the photos look washed out.
But when we are kayaking, or in the motorboat, the iPhone does have to be protected.
Though I have to figure out how to tether it, as it cannot be loose in a bathing suit pocket.

A rope works well. Just be sure to tie something that will float on the other end of the rope! The phone may be 'resistant' but probably not under more than 3 or 4 feet!

I have several AquaPacks, they are great with sealing, and have a nice tether around the neck. Im the thing that floats on the other end of the rope.
But I do have an older waterproof camera which is good to 3 meters so they say. Ive had it about 5 feet down with no problem.
But I think a splash proof iPhone 7 would be nice,,,,,,

When I first read the options to upgrade to the iPhone 7 was either a full purchase $650 or monthly installments which would add around $22 per month I headed to the AT&T store to basically complain about my phone bill.

To my pleasant surprise, AT&T has a buy back offer that covers the cost of the new phone. So, when I get the new phone (about 4 days from now) I have the option of sending my two year old iPhone 6 to them for a full $650, making my new phone costing me the sales tax and change equipment fee. The out of pocket should be less than $100.

I like that the new phone has twice the storage. It's faster and the camera is better.   Thinking.gif

WOW, thats great, I will ask them at the store next week.
As my 3 year old phone is in perfect shape. Its got a great cover on it, a picture of our Yellow Lab. Which I will snap off.
Thank you for this info, they dont tall us this at the store. And the poor phone was NOT wanted by my husband, he wants a small flip phone with a camera. 20 bucks at Walmart.
He wouldnt use it hardly at all, so $20 a month is dumb for us to pay.

Well I preordered two iPhone 7’s plus on the 16th, one for my wife, both with max memory, I live for my music! They came today, very nice. was running the 5s and my wife's was the 5c, a very nice upgrade. Yes, due to the memory, it cost’s, I don’t care as I said, I live for my music which the 5s, due to the minimum memory could not upload my music to it, I only have 9000 songs. My next learning process is to learn to operate it on my trucks sound system, can’t wait! The screen on the new phone is VERY clear, have not used the camera yet but tomorrow is a new day! Was it free, NO, but worth every penny!
So many Mac’s, so little time!

First, sadly, all I would get for my 3 year old iPhone would be around $50 towards the new one.
I should ask my cop friends if they have someone who is poor and deserving, maybe they could use it as a camera and a 911 device?  Nobody in my family wants it, they all have state of the art new phones, the grandsons have the big Samsungs.

Second, I probably will go ahead and get the 7, and bite the bullet for the extra $20 a month. My bill is always around $51, so $71 would not be bad for that. I use it constantly. And I hardly ever use any of my cameras any more.

Most of my music is on my 3 Macs, but Ive put the best onto my phone.
I will have to see how to put this into my truck sound system too. I can get phone on it, but it would be nice to have some of my music.

And Im selling my huge Blues 33rpm collection. I put it on Craigslist thinking I probably would not get a response. I was totally surprised, people want this stuff and will pay nicely for it. So that will go towards my new iPhone.
I have most of my music on my Macs anyway.

I just ordered it!
Be here next week I think, I will track it soon.

Yes, it costs a lot, but i was trying one at the store, and wow, its really a nice upgrade over my antique one.

I sold part of my Blues, Jazz, and Gospel 33 rpms and got far far more than I thought they would fetch.
Paid for the iPhone and a few more things.

I put all the music I wanted on to my various Macs, and a whole corner of my husband's little office is now all cleaned out.
We have a million music CDs, so I dont even miss the old records.

I think you're going to like your new phone! It's going to take me a while to get used to the tactile touch, but I like it too. thumbup.gif
