Farewell Leonard...

Last night we watched a 1988 Omnibus episode on BBC4 -
Leonard Cohen - Songs From a Life
. We were never in the 'fans' class, never saw him live in concert. But we did appreciate the quality of his work and it was a pleasant way to spend an hour-and-a-bit. He came across as a really nice guy too - a view reinforced by
a hitchhiker's story of a chance encounter
.

Since most of you probably don't get the CBC or listen to Metro Morning, here's a podcast of my friend Rob Bowman's lovely tribute to Leonard from a couple of days ago. I've known Rob since we were both working at Records on Wheels and he was doing his masters in musicology. He went on to do a PhD in New Orleans at the University of Memphis. He's one of the most knowledgeable guys on the subject of music that I know - and hugely enthusiastic and engaging.
