Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Bob Hope was in my book the best!

Many years ago I was working in a hospital on a small remodel for one of the kitchens.
They had an burn ward. Most of the people in there were in very bad shape.
Bob Hope stopped by straight out of the blue. No one knew he was coming. No one!
Bob Hope walked into the burn ward and spent as much time as needed to talk to each and every person in there that was conscious enough to listen to him.
Word was when he left the ward many of the patients spirits perked WAY up.

From what I could gather Bob Hope just walked in the door because he was in the neighborhood.

Was the hospital by chance St. Josephs Bill ?
Just wondering.  It's just  next to NBC studios.

I was very fortunate to see Bob Hope on two occasions while in the Air Force and stationed overseas in the Phillippiines and Thailand.  His USO shows were the bright spot of many GIs lives while far away  from home.  He called a good friend of mine out of the audience in Thailand, to give him pictures of his newborn son and congratulate him. It was truly a special moment!

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, Bob so very much
