Vanishing avatar
« on: February 01, 2018, 04:20:26 AM »
Some of you may have noticed that my avatar has changed. The old one, the Scottish flag, simply vanished. Turned out the site that hosted it has also vanished. I did a quick search and found a site with a very similar name (3D flags), but when I clicked my choice it came up with one of those tiny notices at the bottom left that it was transferring data from Facebook. I don't use FB or Twitter, so just closed the page.

I may be an old cynic ("less of the 'old' please...") but I'm guessing that if I use that avatar in more than one place, FB is given that information. It also showed a link to a site called anyorigin. com, whose site gives no info that means anything to me ("Same-Origin-Policy? Not on my watch. cross domain jsonp access").

That's why you'll be seeing Wile E. Coyote giving his gravity lessons for a while yet smile.gif

I think it's time to revert to the "possession is 90% of ownership" rule. Find an image you like, download it to your computer, use it anywhere you want, let the bots try to find it and send a notice of desist. For a small fee (US cash, only), I can provide you with almost any kind of 'avatar' image you might need. I'm graduating from a local stick-figure school of art soon. cheer.gif

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system
CAUTION! Childhood vaccinations cause adults!

I went here: http://www.3dflagsplus.com/

Not sure if that's where you went and got the FB alert, but I received no such alert.

Was your avatar animated? If so:

If you want something different, holler and I'll go grab it.

I want the wind from the east... and at about 4 knots. Too much wind causes the non-flagpole end to become frayed too soon.

No, sorry. The east wind drives up the heat and we bake here on the coast. A cool breeze from the west is best. tease.gif

So the windsock should look like this?

computers will work all of the time!"
