Hi all,
I posted an image to Krissel's thread on snow/snowblowing earlier this evening.  It was there...and now...all that is there is an image of the Tripod.com site.

Can anyone tell me what happened to my image?

If you were using the sitebuilder to upload your pictures, did you "publish" them?

I copied the URL from the source of the page (http://dolphin992.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/snowcart.jpg) but when inserted into a page address bar it comes up with the image in your post and this URL (http://dolphin992.tripod.com/adm/interstitial/remote.jpg).

It appears it is inserting a temporary pic til you commit to yours.

I think.

Or maybe they don't allow live linking?

Tripod does not allow live linking.
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.

Jennie/Krissel , I'm sure you know better than I about live linking and Tripod. But if they do not allow live linking...then why did the image appear when I first posted it?

I think that's the way it works Roy.

I'm assuming the software detects a hot link and then blocks it.

Hard to believe it would have to be blocked by hand.

Howdy Roy!  It either is as Kelly says, or JMHO, since you just created the link, and you were looking at the pic, it's in your cache.

Try an experiment.  Go to  Your DT pic thread.   Can you see the picture you posted?  If yes, close the window, then clear your browser cache.  If you can't see the picture, right-click and hold until the drop down menu shows, and select view picture.  Now go Back, and the picture will appear in the thread.

Tripod stopped allowing hot linking a long time ago.
They are a very large server host.
I believe they have a little green man inside one of their boxes *checking* files [images, pages etc] who leave their domain server and then block the run away by replacing the file with their own logo.
Sometimes it could take a few hours before the little green man catches the culprit or a few minutes. Either way it still could be in your cashe but not for long.

Bottom line is Tripod doesn't allow hot linking.

Enough of this highly technical talk! Makes my head spin.

Bill ..... that  little green man can't live at Tripod, 'cause he lives in my fridge and turns out the light when we shut the door!      My grandkids look for him every single time they open up the door!

Jennie ...I tried your experiment. It did not work. First...when I right clicked...the drop down menu had no "VIEW PICTURE"....only "VIEW SOURCE".  That did not help any.
This is frustrating. I just went to my site...and was just going to post the URL for the pic. But alas...there is something wrong with Tripod's server or...they are doing maintenance. Nothing would load.  Will try again later.
Thx...for your help!
