migrate contacts to Outlook addresses
« on: April 21, 2018, 12:44:21 PM »
My default email client is Entourage 2008. It works decently in High Sierra but can be temperamental sometimes. Unfortunately, it's a 32-bit app that will not work in Apple's next OS. So, I want to buy MS Office 365, which includes Outlook. I don't like Mail and I'm not sure that other email clients will work as well for me as Entourage. Outlook is similar. (And, to tell the truth, my wife is averse to learning new programs. In the interests of marital harmony, I want to change as little as possible.)

My question: Is it possible to migrate my contacts from Contacts.app to Outlook's address book? I did this easily with Entourage by dragging the contacts from Contacts (that sounds strange!) to the desktop, which creates v-cards. Then, I open Addresses from Entourage and drag them into that window. Does anybody know if this will work with Outlook?

I've not done it, Jon, but it looks like it's no problem to do it: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/ad...a8-895ce28d06fa

Funny...I gave up on Entourage in 2008 or so when things kept getting corrupted and going toes up. I use Mail and like it much better now. Free with the OS is always good. Don't know what I'll do re: Word - I have Office 2016, so good for the time being, and really, really loath subscription software. Grrr.

I have continued to use Entourage 2008 because I'm used to it and my wife dislikes change. My only hesitation about Mail is that switching accounts seems to be somewhat non-intuitive, but I'll play with it. Is it possible to migrate accounts (including all emails) from Entourage 2008 to Mail?

Also, at the suggestion of someone in another forum, I'm going to try Mozilla Thunderbird. It's free, so there's nothing to lose.
