Importing Itunes to a new iPad
« on: July 05, 2018, 09:18:50 AM »
I have a music library on my iMac running 10.6.8 (yes folks - if it ain't broke don't fix it). I bought a new iPad running ios 11.04.  When I connect the two the imac can see the ipad but says it can't communicate with it. When I open itunes on the imac it does not show the ipad.  Ideas on how I can get these two to communicate with each other?

Thanks, John
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

First, 10.6.8 is "broke". When was the last Security Update for it? Many of Apple's apps have also been updated with security patches.

What version of iTunes are you using?
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

John, what is the most recent OS your Mac is capable of running?

You'll need to update - there is no way around it. 10.6.8 is compatible only up to iOS 7 and that was a 4 years ago.

Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) is required minimum for the new iCloud Drive and iOS 11 (except for Notes, which requires El Capitan). iTunes 12.7.0.166 is needed for iOS 11.

See: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-8871 - abrody is usually a good source of info on the Apple forums (he's been around for eons...)
