Or you can use Pathfinder, a very powerful replacement for Finder.  The hidden files thing is not even a reason to use it, however.

I read this article early this morning, and found it interesting. I do think that for most Mac users, this statement from the articled is the wisest course of action:

Generally speaking, it's best to leave these files alone unless there is a good reason to access them.
