I read a similar article at another "Apple" site about a week ago, and that's when I figured out why I could no longer charge my iPhone in my car. 😡 At the time I was traveling and really needed my phone and there it was just draining away and I'm concerned and about to drive to the Verizon store (where I bought my iPhone). At my last stop I was able to make a short phone call (with 12% battery), and then I was on my way home. Since it was daylight and almost rush hour, I knew there would be plenty of other cars/people around if I needed help, so I skipped Verizon.
While I understand the security issues behind this, it sure was frustrating and scary. Now when I travel, I turn this option off, and then turn it back on when I’m home and driving local.
