Jim, I am NOT kidding! I will be happy to make you some spice cookies!!!  What kind of spice cookies do you like?

I can bake them and then mail them to you, or I can make the dough and freeze it in pre-measured scoops and send them in dry ice so you can bake fresh at home.  You'll have to post a response here or message me, unless you can find my email addy (I cannot find my email addy for TS).

Here's a photo of one of my ginger molasses cookies -- I made a batch for my church's women's club bake sale--see how nicely they fit inside a CD/DVD sleeve envelope with a "window"? -- they sold out fast, and dang, they were good!

WOW! Aren't "we" fancy with packaging?! I usually wrap up a dozen and give them to people who have been mean to me! "Kill 'em with kindness!"

Mine are from a recipe handed down from a great-grand-mother. They have molasses, also. I make mine smaller, only about two inches diameter. And I don't bake them as long as the recipe says. I think my GGM was trying for something like ginger snaps, I like mine a bit chewy. I roll the dough into small balls and then roll them in a bowl of sugar before putting them on the cookie sheet.

LOL!  Yes, ya gotta "fancy 'em up" with the packaging when you're hoping to sell out at a church bake sale!

It's wonderful that you have your great grandmother's recipe--I do like my molasses ginger cookies a bit chewy.  I love hearing about family favorites and baking traditions that are passed down, generation to generation.

Have a good weekend! DH and I are off to do errands and such.

It's acting up again!
« Reply #50 on: November 15, 2018, 02:59:58 AM »
I would have posted earlier but have been a bit involved with friends & their pets, who may be displaced to here in So Cal, due to the huge fire(s) raging near them in northern Cali.

My computer is acting up again, and will not wake from sleep when I tap any key. This has happened twice after I select "Sleep" under the apple when I go to bed.

In the morning, I have to press the power button on the back to get it to wake up, then the desktop loads as normal and things work just fine.

I know y'all went through this with me earlier in this thread, and then things got convoluted to me, and spin me around and call me Dizzy, and now I am trying to overcome avoidance behavior to do this again!

Could someone please do a cut & paste or refer me to the basic steps of my running Disk Warrior again, to hopefully solve this problem? Thanks in advance for your awesome patience!

Thanks!!!!!

From one of my previous replies in this thread:

1. Redo your SD clone from scratch. You should have a good, bootable clone at this point. Use the Option key trick to start from the SD clone (hold down Option at startup, select the SD clone and press Return). Of course, you have to have the clone connected to the computer! Then, you can launch DW and run it on the internal drive.

2. If #1 doesn't suit you, follow the directions on the DW insert that came with the thumb drive. I mean the one that says "Starting up from your Mac's built-in OS X Recovery". This looks formidable but even I, with my low eye-cue, have done it.

Insert the DW thumb drive and restart. As soon as you hear the chime, press and hold Command-R until the Apple logo appears. You should see an "OS X Utilities" menu.

Choose Terminal from the Utilities menu. When the Terminal window is displayed, type /Volumes/DW/go and press Return. You'll have to agree to the license agreement, but then you can run DW. When finished, quit DW and restart from the Apple menu.

If #2 seems too difficult, I don't blame you. All I can say is that I have done it successfully.

FWIW, I have the same issue waking from sleep. If I click the mouse or press a key, it takes up to 30 seconds to wake, but pressing the Power button usually wakes it immediately. Many people have posted this issue as being related to High Sierra, but I don't know why you have it also.
