Going back to the Bake-off... The production company making the show sold the first few series to the BBC, but later ones were taken up by the commercial Channel 4. Some of the presenters - including Mary Berry - chose not to move over, hence the changes  :)
I do find it really confusing to try to watch. I missed the earlier seasons on PBS here in the U.S., so I'm trying to catch up. I paid for season one at Amazon, and they keep mentioning: "We had a previous baker..." Previous?  This is supposed to be the first season. So confusing, but I enjoy every episode and season.

Thanks for the info on why the changes took place.

We watch lots of PBS shows via AppleTV, but I would think you can get them through their web site.
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

I don't have appletv. When I go to the web site it says:

This video is only available in OPB Passport

That requires a gift of $60 or more, and is NOT available on my TV--only my computer or iPad. No thanks.

Have you checked your cable provider? Many cable packages have various 'subscription' stations like PBS programming.

Are you one of those who watches but lets others do all the contributing?! If so, you are in the majority, usually fewer 10 percent actually contribute. And that's where the biggest monetary support comes from, certainly not the government nor even the corporations that often get mentioned.

I have DirecTV, and my understanding is that my local PBS station doesn't do subscriptions with them. I didn't dig into it because I'm one of those "majority" who don't contribute to PBS. Honestly, I watch very little on PBS any more. They used to have great craft shows, and quilting shows, and a few other things that I liked, and I always contributed once a year. Now those shows are gone, or my local PBS station doesn't carry them, so I'll keep my money. Plenty of stuff to watch on BBC through the 'Zon. ;-)

I recently finished season 3 and one thing I noticed (and maybe this is true of all seasons) ... everyone wears the exact same outfit every single day. Same earrings as well. Nothing changes other then I noticed that blouses/shirts that wind up covered in flour/chocolate/etc, are clean the next challenge. Just seems weird to me.

In the bread challenges folks often use spelt flour and I didn't know what it was, so this exchange took place:

Me: Alexa, what is spelt flour?
Alexa: flour is spelled F L O U R

Then I asked Siri the same question and she graciously took to the App store. HAHAHAHAHA

Why are you are asking these mall-formed, computer-based, data-collecting, language-challenged algorithms for factual information?! :wallbash: :coolio: Duck Duck Go can give you several screens full of links. Of course, you should always remember; "Google can give you tens of thousands of links, but a Librarian can give you a correct answer."

Because I had neither iPad, iPhone, nor my iMac handy. I was deep into an episode of GBBO and wanted a quick answer to what I thought was a simple question. Eventually I went and got my iPad and asked Siri, and she sent me to the app store -- I still can't figure that out.

This morning I popped over to google, got my answer (a type of wheat flour), and went on with my day. But I've laughed over and over at the goofy responses.

But the way, I wouldn't want to ask a duck a food question. I mean, what if I’m searching for a recipe to prepare bebek betutu? What kind of a response would I get? That duck might actually duck away and go:rofl:
