iTunes, what will you use in place of it?
« on: June 06, 2019, 10:32:44 AM »
I've got WINAMP that works flawlessly on my Windows 10 machine; but I'd like something of the sort to take the place of the soon to be unsupported iTunes?

I think Apple is continuing the Windows version.

The joke is that Mr Fermin... (whatever the Mac software guys name is) came out Monday announcing that iTunes was going to add access/tabs for Mail, Safari, Finder, Messages and a few other apps to the interface. The app has been such a mishmash of functions for so long that was about the only thing that could make it worse. :coolio: :laughhard:

I’m not sure what you’ll be needing that won’t be part of the pieces that will be moved to other apps. Only ever used it for syncing my iDevices for the past few years. :dntknw:

I'll simply switch to the new "Music" app, but it's unclear to me if this will be created for win.

I guess I didn’t include a link in the above post regarding iTunes. I’ll do that when I get back to my Mac. In the meantime, here’s a quote to the latest Tidbits article from which I gathered the future of iTunes.
Quote
Ding, Dong, iTunes Is Dead

Federighi had a fabulous riff where he discussed all the features Apple was planning to add to iTunes—Calendar! Mail! A dock!—before acknowledging that iTunes is dead, Jim. (Cue the music from the Wizard of Oz.) Or rather, it’s dead on the Mac—iTunes will continue to exist, zombie-like, for Windows.[emphasis added]
So windows will still have iTunes to keep syncing thief iDevices. I doubt Apple has any concerns about anything else iTunes did for that OS. I seriously doubt there will be any version of the new Music app which seems geared toward selling the Apple music library.

Just in case I dislike whatever Apple is deciding to do to my accumulated music I have installed Plex on a couple of machines and intend to see if I don't like that better! Any one have any opinions? I like it because it will install on Mac's back to 10.5 so I could possibly go back to the old timey machines I've got around.
