Anyone using Safari 13 and DuckDuckGo?

I see report that the DDG extension does not work in the new Safari. Other changes in Safari don't offer me any reason to try it, anyway. meh...

I use DuckDuckGo as my primary search engine and I didn't even know that there was an extension for it. Go to Safari > Preferences > Search and you can specify it there. Also, if you manually enter duckduckgo.com and use it, it automatically becomes the default search engine. You can change that at any time in the Search pane of Safari Preferences. And, I am using Safari 13.0.

I already have it set in my prefs but have the extension installed, also. BTW, 13.1 is now available.

I didn’t know you could actually type in the location box! Why would you want to do that?!

I have used Safari with DuckDuckGo in the past; wasn't well satisfied with DDG itself but I'll try it again and see what version of each I'm using. I
mostly use Opera with VPN turned on to do online financial things and had my credit card company contact me because I didn't tell them I was in
Sweden!

Sometimes I use DDG with whatever but it doesn't seem to turn up the results that I'd like to see; like I'm not pointing it in the correct direction!

I upgraded to Safari 13 before I read all the articles on how extensions are now handled differently and most of them don't work any longer. I'm sure Apple has a reason for this, but it's sure frustrating for all of us who rely on extensions.

Safari hasn't been my default browser in quite a while, and now I don't even bother launching it. I use either chrome or firefox.

I apologize for not warning about the update, even if DDG actually does still work (other than the extension). I just assumed that all TS users are careful about installing updates without checking for potential problems first. Some of us seem to suffer from the "first-one-on-the-block" syndrome... 

OTOH, this update was supposedly to be part of the upcoming Catalina install and any problems with a particular app will be harder to nail down, so it was tempting to install it now.

I have, so far, noticed one improvement in Safari 13. In Safari 12, there was an annoying tendency when logging into some (but not all) websites. I would enter my login ID via Autofill and, as soon as it entered my password, I was automatically logged in without having to press the Login button. I didn't like this at all. That behavior seems to have been corrected in Safari 13.
