Flash Drive Question...
« on: December 14, 2019, 05:25:31 PM »
Anyone have any idea if this:
https://www.amazon.ca/Lightning-External-Storage-Encryption-Certified/dp/B01N1UXH7S/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3G5GJQX7R8PDB&keywords=idiskk+usb+3.0+128gb+iphone+lightning+flash+drive&qid=1576365232&sprefix=iDiskk%2Caps%2C283&sr=8-3

iDiskk Flash Drive would work with my iPad Air 2 with is running iOS11.4.1?

I assumed these things only work as of iOS13, however in the last paragraph of the description of the thing it would appear to say that both my iPad and MacBook Pro are OK. I've looked for a definitive answer online but of course couldn't find one. If anything according to an article I saw was written in 2016... before iOS13 the thing should work.
I've got a HUGE folder of artwork (around 500mb.) that I'd rather not put right on the iPad... a little flash drive like this would be handy. There's in fact 2 apps for it... iDiskk Pro and Max. The iDiskk Max must be new it wasn't there last time I looked. The way I understand it is that you should be able to work with or view your flash drive through the app.  :dntknw:

*edit** Thought it would handy too to put artwork that I do with a couple of iPad apps on for moving over to the MacBook Pro for further refining in Photoshop before I put them in a permanent folder.

Looks like it should work fine on your devices that have a Lightning connector. The connector on the other end looks like a standard USB plug, which should work on any device that has USB ports. According to the answered questions about the device, looks good from here. If any of your Macs have Type C USB ports instead of the USB 1/2/3 ports you would need an adapter.

HTH,

Thanks Chris... looks like I should be OK then!  :coolio:
I have USB 3 ports on my MacBook Pro and my iPad Air 2 does indeed have a lightning port. I cannot for the life of me post a photo here... soon as I hit the + Attachments, Firefox freezes solid. For why? I have no idea because it works elsewhere.

Anyway this little gizmo would be great for another reason... I have some filters etc. on my iPad that I like to use on my artwork.  I was ALWAYS able to save a copy of the result to any other album for transfer back to the MacBook Pro... suddenly it no longer allows this.  :dntknw: I've been running the same setup as in my sig. for quite some time now so I don't know why it quit. Flash Drive would fix that!
