I think we're back in business with my weather web site. Spent at least an hour with CrocWeb via TeamViewer connection. They could get a better view of where files were and eventually got WeatherCat.app to accept the new user name, password for a separate FTP account they had already set up.
I can't praise their skills, patience, perseverance enough! If you want a host that will willingly help you no matter what kind of stupid things you may have done or ask,
CrocWeb is the one to go to!! BTW, I even asked them if they were in any way related to Hostgator since they have similar logo animals. They said they not related and that their animal is an Crocodile while that other company uses an Aligator!
The two companies are also different in a number of
important ways!!!
I think a major part of the problem is on my end where I have two pretty much identical boot drives. Some of the html files that app uses are in the ~/Library/Application Support/special directory. Everything that needs to be FTP uploaded goes into that special directory. My problem is that I was editing the files in the wrong boot drive!
Fortunately, I did have the two drives named differently, the OS probably wouldn't allow identical names, anyway.
But I was not paying close enough attention to where stuff is or where I was in which file system!
Eight out of the nine base pages are working. I'll figure out the problem with the last one be fore the End-O-the-Yeer!
