Beyond Bootable Backups is important reading for anyone who wants to be able to restore personal files, apps and OS functions after a computer crash. It is even more important if you intend to buy the new M1 hardware powered Macs! Here is a fact (confirmed by Mr. Bombich from talks with Apple):
you can't boot an Apple Silicon Mac [M1]
if the internal storage has died.
