Is there a way to migrate email folders?

I don't mean to hog this forum, but I have questions regarding migrating my work from my old 24" 2012 iMac to a 27" iMac. I'll do the major migration of my work files this week. My Apple mail is working with both devices and I can send/reply from both. Of course.

Yet, how do I keep/transfer my dozens of mail folders on my old iMac, that I keep for various projects, to show up on my new iMac? Some are emails that are years old that I use for referrals. I can't imagine trying to have to scroll down though my IN box from years back to find a specific email topic, previous client, etc.

Raven, if you're using Migration Assistant with either a clone or a Time Machine backup, you simply do the full migration - including whatever you've got set up in Mail now, and then deal with it on the new Mac. I'd recommend sorting your older stuff into folders in the Mail section "On My Mac" (ie: folders that are stored locally and not in your IMAP account). Also - Mail has a fairly decent search function, so there should be no reason to scroll...

Finally was able to use a cloned external hard drive and migrated all work files. Have some editing to do because some folders were duplicated.
All my Apple MAIL folders are missing. How to transfer those?

I did find a way to transfer Mail folders from one iMac to the other. It's a cumbersome process...

It looks like you have to Export EACH Folder including EACH sub folder. I've got dozens of folders and then sub folders. Each gets imported as an mBox which has to be renamed to match what there was before. Each sub folder has to be imported separately. BIG JOB! In order to do that, I exported them to Dropbox first and imported from there. I think that's the only way it can work. I can't see how to import directly from one iMac to another.

Another problem solved in the migration of files from one iMac to the other. Still dealing with some other issues!
