urgent: security update
« on: September 14, 2021, 06:29:18 AM »
Apple Issues Emergency Security Updates to Close a Spyware Flaw. I updated to 11.6 yesterday with no problems. My iMac is the only Apple device that I have, but those who have others need to update as well.

Thanks, Jon. I rarely check the "Software Update" function on my old iPhone 6S and have that red notification dot disabled on System Preferences. This update goes all the way back to iPhone 6S. Look at the list of apps and hardware at this Apple Support page. The top five rows all show the Sep 13 update. Looks like the only system NSO ignored is the TV OS! That's generally the best 'hardware' to ignore, IMHO. ;)

BTW, I suspect Apple's severs will be hit pretty hard today. My update is the slowest I have ever seen. Very slow progress bar since ~70%. Strangely Activity Monitor shows the most active Disk process is "com.apple.MobileSoftwareUpdate.UpdateBrainService": 6.01 GB written, 21.76 GB read! :dntknw:

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system
CAUTION! Childhood vaccinations cause adults!

My iPhone and iPad were sluggish yesterday, but I got them updated. I did my new iMac this morning. All seems well.

Apple Sues NSO
Quote
NSO Group has claimed that its software exploits have only been sold to "vetted" military, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies for use against criminals and terrorists, but a massive data leak earlier this year confirmed widespread abuse of the spyware.

Keep those security updates up-to-date, boys & girls!

I did not receive any update notification on my MBP or iPad...  :dntknw:
Of course my iPad is still waiting on me to install iPadOS 15.1 so that might be all that item needs!
