Contacts missing on iMac
« on: June 24, 2022, 11:12:54 AM »
I added several new contacts to my iPhone 12 lately.
Yet, they do not show up in CONTACTS on my 27” iMac OS10.14.6
Restarted iMac & iPhone to see if contacts would sync. Nutting!

My iMac System Preferences/iCloud CONTACTS show as checked.

My iPhone 12 iOS 15.5 shows CONTACTS being ON.

What else can I do to sync my contacts?

Have you tried using the "Sync" function in Finder?
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

I cannot find my iPhone 12 device on the Finder sidebar.
I thought it was synched when I linked it to my iCloud account.
Did something change when I went from iPhone 11 to 12?
What am I missing to sync it to my iMac?

How about a screen shot of Finder Preferences/Sidebar. See attached image.
Note: I'm still using Big Sur™ and Catalina™. However, both show the same choices in this pref.

Bummer. I never used this Prefs option before. No iOS devices showing.
Now what can I do?  :notworthy:

Simple tasks:
  • Update each device to latest version of their existing OS.
  • Make sure both the Mac and the iPhone are on the same network.
  • Unplug the iPhone. Plug in the iPhone. Results?
  • Swap USB cables. Plug in the iPhone to the Mac. Results?
  • Shut down both the Mac and the iPhone. Disconnect iPhone from the Mac. Restart both devices. Plug in the iPhone to the Mac. Results?
  • Zap the Mac's PRAM. (numerous sites explain this process)

Xairbusdriver,
No fix yet. My report...

1. My 2017 iMac has OS10.14.6. Can't go beyond that without losing ability to use my Adobe CS6 apps. (Is that the problem?)

2. They are.

3. Did that.

4. Did that.

5. Did that.

6. Not sure about that.
Do I do the PRAM or NVRAM procedure for a 2017 iMac?
How do I know if it's a M1 device?

When I plug in my iPhone to the iMac, it gives me the option to RESTORE all info. Do I want to do that?

You asked:
A. Do I do the PRAM or NVRAM procedure for a 2017 iMac?
B. How do I know if it's a M1 device?
C. When I plug in my iPhone to the iMac, it gives me the option to RESTORE all info. Do I want to do that?

Suggestions:
A. Use the Startup key combination. If you don't remember the keys, try searching with your favorite web browser for "Mac startup key combinations" and bookmark the Apple Support page for future reference.
B. Let the iMac tell you. Use the "System Information" function.
C. Show us a screen shot of the entire window offering the "Restore".
