Safari update?
« on: September 23, 2022, 01:40:43 PM »
I'm using a 27" iMac. 2017. OS10.14.6
I can't go beyond that OS because I wouldn't be able to use my Adobe CS6 apps for my design work. Being semi-retired I do not want to buy into Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription.
The issue is that my Safari browser is old at v12.1.2 (2019).
It won't let me download some bank statements anymore.
I think the latest Safari version is 15.6.1
I want to update Safari a bit more, but Apple tells me to upgrade to OS15. How can I update Safari to the latest version that OS10.14.6 will allow?

If Software Update is not offering you a newer version of Safari, it is because it doesn't think there is a newer version that will run on 10.14.6. Have you tried opening the Apple App Store to search for any version there?

Have you tried using any other Browsers? If you want to avoid Chrome/Mozilla/etc., you might try DuckDuckGo or several other free browsers that may run on your OS.

BTW, don't believe everything Apple tells you, you do not have to install "OS15" to run Safari 15.6.1. I'm running it just fine with Big Sur macOS 11. In fact, my wife's MBP uses that version of Safari in Catalina macOS 10.15! All Apple is trying to do is to sell you a new machine or two.

Not sure why you didn't get Safari 14 with Mojave! Safari 14 for MacOS ... Mojave Released (OSXDaily, Sep 16, 2020).

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

Xairbusdriver,
I also use Firefox when Safari wouldn't open some web links.
But I did do a Software Update as you suggested to v14.1.2
Plus it added several security updates.
Will see how this version works. Much thanks for your advice, again!  :notworthy:
