TechTool Pro 4
« on: August 09, 2003, 03:07:22 PM »
Like some of you I preordered the new version of TechTool Pro 4 that was to originally ship last spring. I was getting impatient so I asked micromat about it, and the following is the reply that I got.

Thank you for your pre-order of TechTool Pro 4.  We want to keep you
informed about your order and expected shipping date for TechTool Pro 4.

Micromat had expected to release TechTool Pro 4 in the spring, 2003.
However, we have had to change the estimated release date to summer of 2003.
We now hope to be shipping TechTool Pro 4 the end of September, 2003.

We apologize for this delay.  We want to release the best program possible
and it is taking longer to implement all the proposed features than
estimated.  We appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter and
will keep you notified of our progress.

Your order will ship by US Mail, unless an express shipping method was
selected (i.e., UPS Next-day, UPS 2nd-day or UPS 3-day).  Should you need to
make a change in your shipping address, please reply to this email or send
the corrected address to orders@micromat.com or call 707-566-3831.

Again, thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter.

Yours truly,

Micromat most likely is waiting for the release of Panther.
Bet they are soooo sick of their drawing board. <gr>

But still I'm not going to update Drive 10, feeling that this was a bit of a con in the first place.
To each their own mileage.

I'll place a (pretty easy) bet that Panther's for official release on September 16.
The keynote at Apple Expo.
Can't see where else. Or what else Stevie's got up his sleeve.
You get the hardware announcements. We, in Paris, get the software. Like OS X in the first place.
The developers' sites I tend unhealthily to frequent these days show hallmarks of people who have been told that we're now in a sort of post-production phase.
Two months and the "final draft", so to speak, to get their own acts together for release in the wake of the OS itself. I'd also guess that Micromat have got that draft on their drawing board right now.
And staff there would be lined up against the wall at dawn if they told us so.

I just hope TTP 4 is as solid for Panther as TTP 3 is for Classic. On the plus side, they have not charged my credit card, and have assured me hey will not, until TTP 4 is shipped.
