Read this and weep

Taxing LANS/WANS

The subject line refers to a joke that made its rounds here in Florida.
You would ask someone if they've seen the new Florida state quarter. They rightfully say no...it's not out yet...so you hand them a nickle. Puzzlement appears on their face and they say.."that's not a quarter". You reply: Just turn it over five times.

It seems as if only buisnesses would get taxed if they are leasing the equipment for their network. To me, that says that if they buy the equipment, they would not get taxed. Of course, I'm no "law talking guy," so anybody who reads it differently and can clear it up, please do so.

Hi Giantmike,

I'm definitely no lawyer either, but the article stated that the method of taxation would be _either_ by lease amount or depreciation. Depreciation denotes ownership to me, so I would pay sales tax to buy it and "use" tax to use it. We're already being taxed by way of licensing fees and business taxes for which we see no benefit. Oh well...seems there are a goodly number of people who have never seen a tax they don't like so fighting will probably be futile.  wallbash.gif

see ya,
