Suddenly my entire iPhoto Library disappeared. Since I have a copy of it on my hd, I tried to import the pictures again but got a message to the effect that the pictures couldn't be opened because they were unreadable (the photos open in preview and are jpegs). Rich took a couple of test pictures to see if iPhoto could import them from the camera. iPhoto COULD NOT -- same message. I thought that the program had been corrupted, deleted all of it and reinstalled it from iDisk. SAME PROBLEM!
The only thing different with my computer is that I installed Photoshop 4 (ordered the X upgrade yesterday) and set the iPhoto preferences to open a picture in photoshop if I click it twice. I have not tried to use photoshop on any pictures in the iPhoto library, however.
I have searched the Apple knowledge base and "The Misssing Manual" to no avail. The Apple knowledge base said that it usually has to do with too full a hd (I have 39 G left on mine) or a corrupted file. I tried to download the pictures individually (they can't all be corrupt) but that wouldn't work either. Moreover, the pictures on the camera couldn't be corrupt and they couldn't be opened either,
I thought there might be a hardware problem with my iMac but the hardware program found nothing wrong. I used DW with unremarkable results also.
By the way, iPhoto recognizes the Nikon 4300 as its name appears in the bottom of the window. It also read the pictures yesterday.
Help!
Thanks.
