Dan F's web page
« on: August 29, 2003, 06:06:48 PM »
My son, Dan (DanF on TS) has had his web site chosen by dotmac editors for web site of the week.  I think the site is quite extraordinary, especially the diary of his trip to Venezuela this summer.  You can find  it at

Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Maybe I'm just a small town boy who still has a lot of world yet to see, but I find this absolutely dazzling . . .  "How did he do that!" is the first response that comes to mind.

 WOW.gif  hardly expresses my reaction!

What an amazing piece of work, Dan.

Maybe there are sites elsewhere that do similar things, but I've never seen them . . . even on presumably "sophisticated" real estate sites, in the depths of Silicon Valley, I haven't seen displays of this character. They tend to be jerky and sylized.

I can't even come close to grasping how such photos/movies were taken so seamlessly in order, then, to manipulate them so compellingly in/on the site.

No wonder you're proud, Magpie. thumbup.gif  clap.gif

Very nice Dan, great stuff.

Did you use Apple's QTVR Authoring Studio for the panoramas or some other authoring software?

Thanks, I can't believe the feedback.

KPS, I use a program called PT Mac.  This guy Kevin, who sells it, still gives me a lot of support, feedback, advice after a year and a half with the program, and he responds within hours!

QTVRAS is great, and I started with that, but you can't do the Cubic VRs with it.

Thanks again, everyone.

Thanks Dan, I think I downloaded PT Mac some time ago but never used it, I'll have to see where I stashed it. As for Apple's QTVRAS, I tossed the idea around, but thought it a bit pricy.
