Game: Stronghold
« on: August 29, 2003, 03:51:35 PM »
Hi everyone smile.gif

Was checking on games and i came across this stronghold from MacSoft.
It seems to be a good game, but does anyone know it a bit more?
I'm playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein now, but i found i'm already finishing level 4, while i know there are 7 levels.
The good thing is that it's getting harder and harder with every sublevel biggrin.gif
The guy said it runs great on his dual 800 G4... i guess it does wacko.gif but it seems it should run well on my G3 400 Mhz?

Yes, I have played this game, and have had an enormus amount of fun on it.  It has 20 battle levels in a storyline setup, several independent battle maps, A 5 level economic storyline, and a map making program.  It works with absolutely no prblem on my eMac 700, or our iMac 500 with OS X.2.  When run in OS 9.x its unbelievably slow, and network play dosen't work, even though its supposed to.  For example it usually takes the 500 Mhz iMac with X.2 10-14 seconds to load the game when you start it.  Our 667 Mhz G4 tower in OS 9.1 takes about 18-20 seconds, and my eMac 700 took 16-18 seconds before I upgraded to OS X.2

Otherwise it is a great game with great replayability (is that even a word?)

Warning- levels 18 and 20 are extremly hard, I was on level 18 for 2 weeks before I figured out how to beat it.

Also- It takes up more then a GB when installed

Peace-
Peter

Hi Peter smile.gif

Well, loading slow i don't mind, as long as it's worth waiting for (like this RtCW is really worth it).
Also, i'm not using Os9.x... don't even have it on this iMac anymore so that's not a problem either smile.gif
Well it might be a problem cause i'm thinking to buy some expansions packs for the Sims, but than i have to somehow get Os9 back to install the original again (might do that with an external boot drive from work).
1 Gb of space is lots, but it's ok... no problem on that part either.

Thx smile.gif
