Myrna. I recommend you contact a Mac User Group (MUG) in your area. smile.gif

http://www.rimac.org/

Contact someone and inform them of your situation.

I have no doubt someone in your area will help. Just as we do.

At no charge.

This stuff is so hard to do by Remote Control.

A person on hand would be much better. smile.gif

Thanks Kelly. That's exactly what I relayed to Mrs. Lop via email. There's got to be some loyal Mac users in her area that would be more then happy to get her Mac up and running.  Good old MUG smile.gif

MrsLop -

Sorry about that.

What I was trying to get out of you was whether or not you had customized the installation at all because it sounded to me like the Apple Enet extension never got loaded up, thus the problem you're seeing.

A couple of things:

First, check in System Folder > Extensions (Disabled) and see if there's any mention of it there.

If not, then you may consider running the 8.6 install again and when you get to the point in the install where you can choose "Customize", click on that button and then I think the list you want is under the MacOS set. There should be a section underneath it in the same window that lists a header called "Networking", with an expandable checkbox. Click on the checkbox to expand it, and scroll down until you see "Apple Enet". Make sure it's checked and then proceed with the reinstall.

Once that extension's installed you should be good to go.

As far as DHCP, well........chalk that up to an overzealous TSer.

We can deal with that another time. smile.gif

Hope that helps.
