Discharge the CRT?

How long does a CRT hold a charge?
3.141 hours? couple of days? a week?
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Indefinitely. smile.gif

So they're talking you into it?

I'm sure it's easy for someone who knows just what they're doing.

Do you have the tool and know just what to do now?

I still don't recommend it Jennie. smile.gif

Sometimes I ask questions just to ask.....you know ....curiosity.

My mama din't raise no dummy.  I'm not gonna do the discharge.  I've found someone with more experience (which in this case is any at all) to do the discharge.  Then I can do the replacement.

Just remembered another 'trick' of many old-timers who work with high-voltage stuff: Keep one hand in your pocket! That will prevent you from accidentally forming a connection from one source of high-voltage to a lower source (ground) that just happens to run across your heart! Not a good place to have high-voltage currents!
It also requires that you maintain a certain degree of decorum in your dress style (or should that be 'pant' style? Thinking.gif )! blush-anim-cl.gif And I'm not even going to mention your 'stripping' comments! doh.gif  Devilish2.gif

BTW, newer Apple CRT's (which are getting hard to find now that the eMac is the only one using them!) included 'bleeding' resistors in the circuits to drain this high-voltage after they were turned off for a while. Of course, it was discovered, by some less than careful tech, that the resistors could sometimes fail! oops.gif  eek2.gif
