What's with this OS X and Fonts!
Open a font CD of Type 1 fonts and the "display" suitcases are disolved leaving all the individual display fonts floating around loose! And the printer fonts have the same icon so you can't tell what is what!
And what a lame "help" the help file is. Add fonts using "your" sofware program. Do I have to buy a program to do this? I use, and have used many font managers at work.
But this is for my daughters PowerBook, so I really don't want to spend any more money. And I only want to add a few more fonts that the standard Apple install and M$ Office install.
To add to the agony. When running office the font list used to be WYSIWYG. After manually adding a few fonts to the Fonts folder in the "library", some showed up, others did not. Two fonts were only showing up as bitmaps. I then removed the whole "family" folder of those fonts out. Now everytime I launch Word the fonts are NOT shown in ther "face", just listed in the menu sans serif, and NOT grouped by family! They are named by their short file name eg. "OB HelvUlBol".
One Last anoyance is the fonts folder is full of Asian fonts. This OS was the original factory install which was updated by the "Apple Genius" when we bought it two weeks ago. Are those TrueType fonts that I can just delete?
Thanks
