iTunes 2.0.4 audio breaks up.
« on: September 22, 2003, 09:49:46 PM »
Why does iTunes audio break up when the iTunes window is open. It plays ok if I close the window. This occurs even if I don't have any other apps running. I reinstalled it and it still breaks up when the window is open. This also occurs with both OS 9.0.4 and 9.1. It used to play fine with window open or closed. This started sometime ago.

I don't know jb. huh.gif

I'd try the traditional Classic fixes.

Trash the iTunes Preferences and give it more Memory.

Some Reader Reports. You might check older and newer.

Turning "off" Virtual Memory did the trick for me... smile.gif

Hi Dream, yeah, still up, but not for long.

Just thought I'd let you know I finally got the catfish out and into the big tank.

Does the "4400, L2/G3/350(320)" mean you've Over Clocked it?

Saw where someone in those reports had that cause problems.  huh.gif

Kelly. It means I installed a Sonnet L2/G3/350M/1M processor upgrade. As you know the 4400 is one of those 'non upgradable processor' computer, i.e the original 200 Mhz 603e is soldered. Sonnet and a few others came up with a G3 upgrade card that plugs into the original L2 slot. This has been working fine from the day it was installed some 3 years ago.

Dreambird (and kelly too). Turning off Virtual Memory did not help. But reading Apple's iTunes discussion list about iTunes 2.0.4, it appears that quite a few people are reporting quite a few "if's and but's" about it. Come to think of it, it may very well be that this break up problem started when I updated iTunes to 2.0.4.

Anyway, I'm giving up on this problem as who wants to look at the iTunes window while listening to it.
