Bruce, I just noticed that the developers of Transparent Dock have released an updater to make it compatible with 10.2.8. AppleGMACEthernet.kext  clap.gif

The 10.2.8 Updater seems to have been pulled by Apple.
Obviously, some users experienced serious problems.

George I fear that there have been so many problems with this update, especially re internet connect and PB battery/energy issues, that Apple may have pulled the update. Stay tuned. Thinking.gif

The transparent dock update is here:
http://www.freerangemac.com/

Haven't tried it yet.

Bruce.
Not only did the update put my dock back to stock. After reseting back to the backup, I lost the dock completely!
Then played around dumping user>library>prefs>transparent dock then ran the app again and got the transparent back but a white border.!.
Did this a few times and settled with the white border for now.

Oh. Running permissions did squat ... even though it fixed a few no-no's.

Good thing I only did the update on my other 'puters spare Jag! Sheesh!

The update also tossed flash 7 out and replaced it with 6.

Haven't EVEN checked what else the update messed with yet.

Either Apple servers are overloaded or something else is wrong. OS 10.2.8 Combo Updater is "temporarily unavailable as of 5:45 PM EST and is still unavailable at 7:50 PM.

Even after running utilities, I noticed rebooting or a cold start the loading takes a little longer. Not much but still ...
Kind of doubt if that little tidbit makes any difference .. <gr>

I does appear they pulled it.

Thanks Harv, I found it on VersionTracker just before I left for work. It's working nicely!

Too bad so many people are experiencing problems with the update. sad.gif  I hope Apple gets it straightened out soon.

I've been running 10.2.8 for a day & a half without any problems. As I said earlier, everything seems a bit speedier.

I did notice that my preference for manual software update checks got changed to automatic.

May I have an unpretentious Merlot with that?
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.
