iPod problem
« on: September 28, 2003, 08:50:01 PM »
Today I plugged in the iPod into my computer, the "Do Not Diconnect" flashed as usual, but the icon does not appear on the desktop, and nothing gets downloaded from my imac ... I don't want to disconnect it (as per flashing sign in the window of the iPod) because I'm afraid some data wd be lost.

Tried the reset? I think it's to hold down the top and bottom buttons (menu/pause?). Also try reset the firewire port by turn off the computer, remove all cables (usb, firewire etc) and let the computer sit for 10 min before you hook everything up again and boot up the computer.

Thank you, CP ... I did suggestion #2 ... it worked! Now, why didn't I think of that? DOH! (slaps forehead) ... and as I write this, there is a knock on my door ... hmm, who might that be, knocking on my chamber door? EEK! the FED-EX dood delivering ... can it be? THE G5 DUAL PROCESSOR-2 GIG RAM-9800 PRO GRAPHICS CARD TELEPORTER! LAWD   KNOWS, BEAM ME UP, SCOTTIE ... methinks it's Christmas in September! (only been waiting since June)
Now ... I guess I need to "de-authorize" this Imac ... wonder how I
"unregister" it? My son, the irresponsible roommate, inherits this. He'll have to re-register it in his name (I'm assuming). 'race everything on here ... boot disk utility? hmm ... Will check back in on ya later. Thanks agin, CP! laugh.gif
