Can some one with a cable modem take the test at this site and show their results?

I took it and it came out that i have a download speed of 1998 kbps. I'm only supposed to be at 786 ofr so with the package I have from Charter.
I'm wondering if the test is off.....I can't believe i'm going that fast. wacko.gif

Hi Gary,

Your cable connection speed is relavent to how much bandwidth your ISP has.  If it's crowded there, then speeds will be slower.  If there's ample room, then bandwidths could be higher for the customers.

I use DSLReports all the time, I like the tests there.  Here's what I got.

2003-10-17 12:06:39 EST: 2870 / 355
Your download speed : 2870149 bps, or 2870 kbps.
A 350.3 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 355966 bps, or 355 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

I just ran the test and the results showed a download speed of 749kbps and an upload speed of 84kbps.

My Charter connection should be 750/128.

I have been considering upgrading to the 1.5mbps connection, which I believe is just $10/month more than my current charge.  Anybody care to comment whether the increased speed is worth trying?

Your download speed : 23948 bps, or 23 kbps.

Your upload speed is much faster than down.. have you tweaked?
Your connection hardly qualified as broadband, at least in that test

Mayo,

Charter just bumped us "Gold" 750/128 customers up to the 2000 bps for Free until March.

They are only offering 2 speeds now.

I don't know what they are doing in your area. You may want to give them a call and see.

It is much, much faster.

Via Comcast cable. FWIW, Comcast states they will increase the DL speed to 3000 kbps by the first of the year; and at no increase in cost.  clap.gif
