PCI graphic card for my built-in pm 5500 monitor.
« on: October 27, 2003, 02:06:54 PM »
huh.gif the soldered on motherboard ATI rage II graphic card of my powermac 5500 is defective. i have an ATI Xclaim PCI graphic card. i would like to know if is there a mean to make it working with the built in monitor of my machine (PM 5500 is an all in one model like imac). Naturally , the monitor doesn't have a VGA or any other video connector and i'm searching a way to bypass that limitation. Someone did the expérience ?

I'm sure you could do this if you got out a soldering gun, and soldered the exact right pins on the VGA port to the exact places on the built in monitor. However, doing such a feat would be dangerous and nearly impossible.

You might be able to pick up a seperate monitor, and run that off the PCI card, but I fear you're out of luck with the internal monitor.

the difficulty arises when i try to identify the right connectors or wires in the monitor part of the machine. I really don't know where to connect the 15 vga output pins from the graphic card. I need the electronic scheme of the pm 5500/5400, it's undocumented...Have you got an idea from where can i get it ?  sad.gif
