While not show stoppers, they do, IMNHO, still qualify as Gotchas that warrant publication. Apparently others, in addition to yers truly, have also encountered the following:
1. From a cold start, a Verify of my permissions looks like:
Group differs on ./private/etc/cups/certs, should be 26, group is 0
Group differs on ./private/etc/cups/classes.conf, should be 26, group is 0
Group differs on ./private/etc/cups/cupsd.conf, should be 26, group is 0
Group differs on ./private/etc/cups/ppd, should be 26, group is 0
Group differs on ./private/etc/cups/printers.conf, should be 26, group is 0
Group differs on ./private/etc/cups, should be 26, group is 0
Group differs on ./private/var/spool/cups/tmp, should be 26, group is 0
Group differs on ./private/var/spool/cups, should be 26, group is 0
And I can print normally on my Epson 740. Cool.
But, If I Repair Permissions (all the above get reset from 0 to 26, what ever that means) and then I can no longer print. There is nothing in the print cue, no error dialog, nothing. Not so cool!
Then, if I shut down the computer and the printer, and then restart them both, the Permissions return (to 0) as initially noted, and printing is again routine.
I have zapped the PRAM and run DW and fsck -f with no success. Needless to say I remain confused. For sure that is the first time I have heard of Repairing Permissions actually doing harm.
I have repeated this three times and each time the results were as noted.
2. Problem 2 is really minor. Magic Menu (Stuffit 7) will no longer display in the Menu Bar.
Since both of these conditions have/are being experienced by others, I expect a fix will soon be forthcoming (or so I hope). But if you know of a fix, please holler up.
