ADC Monitor on a Compaq
« on: October 29, 2003, 05:43:00 AM »
I have a spare 17 in flat CRT Studio Display with the ADC connector.

My friend would LOVE to have it for her Compaq (hey, I'm trying to convert 'em, any way I can!).

Can the monitor be used via the VGA port?  Is there a convertor?
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Don't think so...it was a somewhat limited market. The only one available works with a bunch of ADC monitors, but NOT the 17" studio display. sad.gif It's also $399....oh, wait a sec, here it is for a mere $299!) Anyway...still won't work unfortunately.

As far as I can tell, the only solution would be to buy a DVI to ADC converter ($149, Gefen) and then install a video card with DVI in the PC. NewEgg has a bunch of cards that would do the job for $45 or less.

All in all, still a $200 project to get this running on a PC. Is she that enamored? wink.gif
