OT: Photo Challenge - Selfportrait...

A friend took a self portrait of his camera, a pretty normal picture through a mirror. I though I'd make it more interesting so I'm challenging you to take a self portrait of your camera (not yourself):

Did this a while ago, testing the Coolpix with an SB80 flash and a new bracket...I know I'm not supposed to be in it, but no time to do a "camera self portrait"..gotta sleep soon.

I have an image that I would like to post here. I saved it in a HD partition, "MY PIX".
How do I post this image? Thinking.gif

You need a web space to put it up, like if you have a .Mac account you could link the images from there.

Hi bvjo,

One way or another, you will have to find some place to store your image file/files on a web server. Your ISP probably provides you with a small amount of space as part of the service they provide to you for free.

If not, there are other means of finding and using free web server space. Maybe other TS'rs will be more helpful with that idea.

Or send it to me and I'll post it for you.

CyberPet,

I just noticed that your friend didn't reverse the image (left to right). Which brings up the old question about why a mirror only reverses things horizontally and not vertically!

I just did my reversals in PE, assuming one would want to read any text. I did not simply take a picture of the camera with another camera. I just used the bathroom mirror, the self-timer (that's how when the cat decided to investigate!) and a box to support the camera.

My first tries failed because of the blinding flash! Had to figure out how to use only available light, not having a remote flash.

So, how 'bout some more of your "what is this!" images!

For those interested the process used to make this image was done many, many years ago, when I had the use of a 500 mm mirror lens.

I had learnt early on that in positive film, the white, when overexposed becomes transparent. SOoo, using a white background with a hole in it to frame my face, made a self portrait using a timer.

Then cutting a white circle that fit in the lens face, took my picture in a mirror, the camera lens face becoming transparent.

next taking both images and sandwiching them resulting in the image seen here.

Remember this was done so many years ago, it was a great deal for an early camera buff.
